Guide to Install Roman Blind

Roman blinds present a chic and efficient option for dressing windows, bringing an element of elegance to any space. The thought of installing Roman blinds might initially appear challenging, but with the correct tools and directions, it's quite a manageable task. This detailed guide will lead you through the installation process, ensuring a smooth makeover for your windows.

Step 1: Assemble Your Materials

Before starting, ensure you have all necessary materials ready:

  • Roman blinds
  • Mounting brackets & screws
  • Screwdriver or drill
  • Measuring tape
  • Spirit level
  • Pencil
  • Wall plugs (if required)

Step 2: Measure Your Window

Precise measurements are essential for a proper fit. Measure the width across your window recess or outside the window frame where you intend to install the blinds. Also, measure the drop from the top of the window frame to your desired blind length.

Step 3: Inside or Outside Mount

By this point, you should have determined whether your blinds will be an inside mount or an outside mount, and position them accordingly. Inside mounts offer a more streamlined appearance, while outside mounts can give the illusion of a larger window and better light management.

Step 4: Place the Mounting Brackets

For inside mounts, locate the brackets at the top corners inside the window recess. For outside mounts, place the brackets above the window frame. Use a measuring tape and spirit level to make sure the brackets are evenly spaced and straight.

Step 5: Fix the Mounting Brackets

With a screwdriver or drill, securely attach the mounting brackets to the wall or window frame at the marked spots. If drilling into plasterboard, utilise wall plugs for added stability.

Step 6: Attach the Blinds to the Headrail

Should the blinds come with a separate headrail, fix them following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Check that the blinds are evenly distributed and straight within the headrail.

Step 7: Install the Blinds

Once the brackets are securely fixed, mount the blinds onto the brackets. Confirm that the blinds are level by using a spirit level.

Step 8: Stabilise the Blinds

If your blinds include a locking mechanism or screws to hold them in position, make sure these are tightly fastened to avoid the blinds slipping.

Step 9: Operate and Tweak

Operate the blinds by lifting and lowering them to test their function. Adjust as needed to ensure they work smoothly and hang evenly.

Step 10: Admire and Utilise

With everything in position, take a moment to appreciate your newly fitted Roman blinds. Adjust the cords or chains for perfect use and revel in the improved style and functionality they add to your room.

Following this comprehensive guide, you’ll be well-equipped to install Roman blinds, enhancing your windows’ appearance. Remember to measure accurately, select the right mounting approach, and adhere to the installation instructions for a perfect outcome. Should you face any issues, don’t hesitate to consult a professional. Enjoy the sophistication and adaptability of your new Roman blinds!
